Term 3 Reflections

Today we made a slide that is our term 3 reflections.
WALT: To reflect on what has happened in term 3.
I enjoyed making this because it was fun finding different things that we have done this term and remembering lots of different memories from this term.
I found it challenging to find what we had done this term and trying to find different images for my slide of how I was feeling and choosing my favourite things for this term.

All about Noah Barleywater runs away

Noah Barleywater runs away is a book that my reading group is reading, it is also a fantasy. This book is all about how Noah runs away from home and he goes through three different villages. In the first village he is very hungry and as he is walking he finds an apple tree with lots of apples on it, he walks towards it but it moves away and it keeps moving away until he runs to the tree and jumps on it before it moves again. then the tree begins talking to him saying please don't eat me please don't take my apples. He gets caught taking three apples and gets yelled at and then he runs till he gets to the next village. In the next village he meets a man who is taking his dieing cat to the vets in a wheelbarrow. he then meets another man who is reading the paper and sees an article about Noah taking the apples and how the owner took the treen to the hospital. He then looks at the picture and saw Noah and got angry. Noah then walked to the next village and he meets a talking dog and a very hungry talking donkey. in the village there is a strange house and a strange tree outside the house. He goes inside the house and is surprised to find that it is a toy shop, he finds the owner of the toy shop and finds out about how weird and strange the man and the shop is and all about the man's crazy history.

Maori colours

For the past few weeks we have been focusing on learning Te Reo Maori. Yesterday we had a google drawing that had a lot of the colours in Maori and we had to colour the boxes of the other side of the google drawing the colour that was said in Maori. For example, kakariki is green so you would colour the box green. Here is a photo of the google drawing.

Making tracks for robots to go around

At Paroa school the year 7's go to Greymouth high school and do tech. We have 3 classes, technology/computers, cooking and woodwork. I am in technology. This term we are making tracks that these robots called spheros can go around. We made them out of wood, cardboard and/or thin plastic. For mine I spraypainted the track silver and the base gold. To make the track softer I am also adding some felt fabric. I am sticking it to the track by using a hot glue gun. when I have stuck all of the felt to the track I will spraypaint it silver to match the colour of the track.
Here is a photo of my track.

Tramsformation using grids

Today we found an accredited image on Explore and selected it to use on our page. We then put a 5x5 grid on it so we could copy it and make it original. Mrs Minehan selected the first two images so we could understand the process then we got to choose our own image I didn't have enough time to choose an image.
I found it challenging to get the curves done because They were really hard to do with the polyline.
Have you ever tried to transform an Image using a grid? If you have then let me know how you did.

My maps

We learnt how to use Google MyMaps and then we got to look closely at our own environment and locate landmarks. For each landmark we found we had to name it, write something about it and find an image of it so that the pin on our map had information on it. This is my finished map of Wellington Have you ever used MyMaps to locate places in your community?

Music making at Wellington camp

A while ago my class went to Wellington for camp. When we were in Wellington we went to capital E! and each made a piece of music.
In my music, I have the genre of Latino including guitar, piano and drums.
I found it challenging to try and find things that work well together. I enjoyed everything.
I have left the link right at the end so you can listen to my music. Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

The current situation composting

Waka art work

WALT: Find symbols that represent our family.
I chose 2 korus to symbolise my family and friends. I chose an infinity to represent my sister and I. The paw stands for all of my pets. The music notes stand for singing and dancing. the flags stand for some of the different cultures that I have. BIG SIS and LIL' SIS stand for the matching rings that my sister and I have. Williams stands for my family name. Megan is my sister's name and stands for her.
I enjoyed everything. I found It challenging to find symbols from my mum's side.

WALT: to find the meaning of assertive.
What is the meaning of assertive.
Boldly confident without being aggressive.

Three synonyms for assertive. confident, bold, firm.

Sentence for assertive.
When I was at the movies the lady next to me was texting on her phone and I was assertive to tell her to stop and that it's not allowed.

I enjoyed finding the meaning and I found it challenging to choose a picture to draw that explains what the word means.
To make my work BTB I could have made the picture clearer and easier to read.

Friday, 8 March 2019

we get into the truck. We have a long drive ahead. It's 5.30 in the morning. we had to wake up at 4.30 to wash the puppies. They had mud all over them they need it. there are bags of food and pillows everywhere. The dogs are in the canopy. I ask mum if I could now watch some movies she turns it on and passes it to me. As we drive I can smell the bags of chips and lollies mum opens. as I open the window I can smell the trees dirt and mud. We finally arrive I can hear the snippets of scissors gently snipping. I can see tents everywhere and people rushing around getting last minute things done. There are four rings for competing in. I can fell the ice cold air snipping at my face. where am I?

WALT: We have been learning to describe where we are without saying it
